    Finishing and Spray Painting

    2 day

    $289

    $329

The Finishing and Spray Painting Course is 2 days in length. This provides adequate time for added practice of actual 'hands-on' painting. The course is conducted in a professional spray booth located at our facility in Griffin, Georgia. Techniques of spraying several different types of materials will be discussed and you will actually spend most of your time either preparing surfaces for spraying or actually painting the materials.

The course is started with a discussion of safety aspects of different chemicals and how to take proper precautions. Then a considerable amount of time will be devoted to preparation of steel, aluminum, fiberglass, wood, and fabric surfaces. You will actually prime and varnish surfaces as required.

Time is spent in how to set up a spray gun using both a high pressure gun and, of course, the new high-volume-low-pressure painting systems. The majority of your spraying will be done with the HLVP system unless you prefer the high pressure gun.

Most of the first day will be spent preparing surfaces. Fabric panels will also be prepared. In addition, you will actually prepare a fiberglass panel using filling and finishing techniques. A metal control surface will be assigned to each group of 2 students and it will be prepared for painting.

Continuing into the second day you will have an adequate amount of time to practice spraying steel, aluminum, wood, fabric, and fiberglass. You can choose which surface you desire to spend the most time on. The 'final exam' consists of painting the metal control surface prepared the previous day.

This is a very packed 2 days that will prepare you to paint your own airplane regardless of the material from which the plane is constructed. It will instill confidence in your ability to paint an award winning airplane.

The course size is limited to insure individualized instruction. This is an outstanding course designed to enable even a novice to learn to spray a beautiful finish.

This workshop will only be presented at our Griffin, Georgia location just outside of the Atlanta. Upon completion, you will be presented a diploma suitable for framing. More importantly, you will feel confident to paint your project.
